

The engine was later confirmed to make 647 hp (482 kW) and 550 ft The GT's engine largely differs from the previous generation, being a 3.5 L (3,495 cc 213.3 cu in) twin-turbocharged Ford EcoBoost V6 engine which was initially stated to make over 600 hp (447 kW).

It marks 50 years since the famed Ford GT40 won the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans and later run successfully in the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans to mark the anniversary, winning the GTE class. Unveiled at the 2015 North American International Auto Show alongside the 2015 Xbox One racing game Forza Motorsport 6, the second generation Ford GT was put into production in late 2016.
